Meeting the Mandates of the Vermont Global Warming Solutions Act

The 2020 law requires Vermont's greenhouse gas emissions to drop to 26% below 2005 levels by 2025. Emissions would need to be 40% below 1990 levels by 2030 and 80% below by 2050.

How will this happen?

TRANSPORTATION: Vermonters will be have to purchase more electric vehicles and drive fewer miles.

In 2022, 1,474 new battery electric vehicles were registered in Vermont.

Non-combustion vehicles represent 1.7% of the total new and used car market in 2022.

Two thirds of vehicles in Vermont are registered as used vehicles.
