Vermont's ZEV Regulations
The Vermont Low and Zero Emission Vehicle Regulation is in effect.
This requires passenger cars and light-duty trucks delivered by manufacturers to sell in Vermont be zero-emission vehicles.
It starts with 35% in 2026. Of the vehicles delivered into Vermont in 2026, more than a third must be zero vehicles (ZEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). This number increasesto 100% by 2035.
Vermont is one of 16 states with a similar mandates. Here is the list.
Medium and heavy duty trucks have a similar mandate but with a longer timeline. According to the Vermont Advanced Clean Truck regulation, half of all new Class 4-8 trucks sold in Vermont must have zero emissions by the end of the decade. See what trucks have to be zero emission when here.
