How much will the "Affordable" Heat Act cost?

According to testimony on January 26 by the Secretary of Natural Resources, Vermonters will have to invest about $2 BILLION on new heating systems and weatherization.

According to the testimony, the increased cost to kerosene, heating oil, and propane customers is calculated at $180 million, or roughly 70-cents per gallon.

All this this money is redistributed to “credit generating businesses,”  such as electricians, wood stove installers, and weatherization contractors. This calculation does not include the expense that the state of Vermont must undertake to operate a credit trading program and enforce the borders to ensure compliance.

That will be many millions more.
